Will Roberts
Director of Operations – Youth Sport Trust

Will joined the Youth Sport Trust in 2007 to lead on the development of the UK School Games, the UK’s major multi-sport event for talented young people. Through Will’s leadership the event grew in stature, taking place on the London Olympic Park with 40,000 spectators in 2012 – the event continues and in 2018 will take place at Loughborough University. Under Will’s leadership on behalf of the Youth Sport Trust the Games led the way in presenting a vibrant and modern offer which placed athlete education at its’ heart. At Rio 2016 17 alumni of the event won medals including numerous gold medals, and would have finished 17th in the Olympic Games and 4th in Paralympic Games medal tables.

Having led the Youth Sport Trust’s work on Talent and Competition since 2010, Will has overseen the development of the School Games, a publicly funded concept which includes 87% of all schools in England (over 21,000 schools) and have provided over 2 million opportunities for young people to participate in interschool sport this academic year alone.

Will is now Director of Operations, overseeing the implementation of all of our programmes, with lead responsibility for our publicly funded work.
