With 20 years experience in NSW local government and the sport and recreation industry, Simon has developed a vast range of expertise across sport, events, leisure, recreation and open space.
He has demonstrated strategic leadership through an ability to identify opportunities and cases for change. A strong awareness of environmental conditions affecting the sport and recreation sector and a correlation to organisational goals and objectives enables an ability to connect issues and opportunities in order to provide solutions.
Strong relationship management has laid the foundation for a collaborative and inclusive approach to issues with all stakeholders. His experience and knowledge in a range of roles mean he is distinctively placed to comprehend the broad strategic view whilst maintaining a pragmatic, businesslike approach to implementing subsequent actions to achieve tangible results.
Over the past 3 years, Simon has managed a range sport and leisure project engagements in the capacity of a consultant with local government, state government and state sporting organisations. Prior to this, Simon headed up a major facilities unit for a leading local government authority in regional NSW. This included all aspects regarding facilities from planning through to funding, procurement and management.
