Male Champions of Change Sport Forum – Women In Sport Forum
Tuesday 17th July 7.00pm – 8.00pm
Male Champions of Change (MCC) Sport is a major collaborative effort to advance gender equality and the involvement of women in all aspects of sport. The 17 CEOs who make up the group represent the key sports (in terms of economic contribution) in the Australian landscape. The group is chaired by former Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Elizabeth Broderick. Their priorities include:
- Advancing more women into leadership positions in sport;
- Developing more respectful and inclusive sporting cultures; and
- Pathways to pay equity
The 2018 Women in Sport forum will be held as part of the National Sports Convention, with all conference attendees invited to attend. The forum will be hosted by Kate Palmer, CEO Australian Sports Commission, and will be facilitated by Tal Karp, Olympian and former Matilda (Australian Women’s Soccer Team). The forum will focus on sharing the work of the MCC Sport group together with details and lessons on how to embed gender equality into organisations and the sport sector more broadly.
The forum will include a welcome and introduction by Kate Palmer followed by a series of exciting ‘Ignite Talks’ by 7 CEOs at the helm of some of Australia’s highest profile sporting organisations. Through their Ignite Talks, the CEOs will share how they are tackling issues surrounding gender equality in their own organisations and how they are influencing the sport sector more broadly. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear candid stories from experienced industry leaders and take away practical solutions to effect change in your organisation.
The CEOs who will present Ignite Talks are: Kate Palmer (Australian Sports Commission), James Sutherland (Cricket Australia), Anthony Moore (Basketball Australia), Matt Finnis (St Kilda Football Club), Mark Anderson (Collingwood Football Club), Brian Cook (Geelong Football Club) and Marne Fechner (Netball Australia).
