Chief Financial Officer – Golf Australia
Gerard Kennedy joined Golf Australia (GA) in April 2013 having previously spent five years with Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club.
In his time with GA, Gerard has led the financial growth of the business by ensuring growth in equity while also increasing investment in the core business of golf programs. Beyond this he has also led two major strategic initiatives, the GOLF Link member database acquisition and One Golf.
GOLF Link is GA’s online handicap display and database for 400,000 Australian golf club members. Prior to April 2017 the commercial rights to the data and online display of the handicap were owned by a 3rd party. Gerard structured and negotiated an agreement that acquired the commercial rights while protecting GA’s equity position by ensuring no capital outlay or debt was required.
One Golf is a new governance structure for golf in Australia that will consolidate the operations of GA and the State Member Associations to a single entity to better align strategy, realise cost efficiencies and maximize the value of commercial assets. Gerard led the preparation of the business case and is currently project managing the implementation of the five supportive member associations.
